Hello, my name is Melissa Ocker. I am the Executive Director of the Carlisle Early Education Center. I became a part of the CEEC family in 2005. My first role was as a preschool teacher. While teaching, I believed it was important to provide exciting educational experiences. As the Director, this same passion for education holds true. I aim to provide tools and resources that allow teachers to provide enjoyable educational experience for the children each and every day.
My passion for education began many years ago. I Graduated with my Associates Degree in Early Education from HACC in 2006. I then continued my education at Shippensburg University, where I graduated with my Bachelors in Education, and a dual teaching Certification in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I am a current Shippensburg Graduate student, working toward my Master in Curriculum Instruction.
Outside of CEEC, I am a wife and mother of three boys – Matthew, Mason and Sage. Our family pet is a pig, Pork Chop. As a family, we spend time working on our Christmas tree farm. We also spend much time in the outdoors, riding dirt bike, motorcycles, and hiking. We enjoy movie nights, playing board games, traveling and going to the beach.
Office Administrative Assistant
I started at CEEC in 2001 as an Assistant in Dinosaur Drive. I have also worked in Big Bears and Tiny Teddies. I took three years off and was a stay at home mom and I knew I would come back to CEEC when I was ready to work again. I have been the Administrative Assistant since June of 2013. It was hard for me to leave the classroom and it took me awhile to get adjusted to not working with the children but I love that I get to meet all the families and see the children when they visit the office. I currently live in Mt. Holly Springs with my Boyfriend Tim and my two children. Carson is my older son who is in High School and Logan is my younger son and he is in Middle School.
I graduated from Big Spring in 1998. I attended Liberty University and obtained by Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from there in 2003. After completing college, I worked for Smith Elliott Kearns and Company, LLC before having children. I reside in Lake Meade with my husband and two children. I have been working part time at Carlisle Early Education Center since June 2011.
My hobbies outside of working at the Carlisle Early Education Center include running my children to the extra-curricular activities they are involved in, cross – stitching, reading and relaxing by the pool or on the lake in the summer time.
Manager of Student Culture
I grew up in Plymouth Wisconsin and received my BS degree in Elementary Education in Wisconsin. While attending graduate school, I decided to make a change and go to truck driving school and from this I drove tractor triler for two years. This, is what brought me to Pennsylvania, and I now live in Shippensburg.
I have been affiliated with CEEC in many different positions for over 35 years. My most recent position is that of VIP (very important person). I am a person who wears many hats, and have perfected the art of multitasking to keep my business/teaching/personal worlds in balance. My passion is “Sing and Sway Linda’s Way” a music and movement curriculum that I created for children.
Besides teaching, I own and operate The Wash Tub Laundromat and own and manage numerous rental properties. Family and friends are important to me. I try to be a good role model by example. I love to travel and play in the dirt (garden). I definitely take time to smell the flowers.

Hello, my name is Cheryl Myers. I graduated from Shippensburg in 1981. I moved to Carlisle shortly after that. I met my husband and started working for CEEC. I worked for CEEC for about 15 years. I started as an aide and worked my way up to a lead teacher in the three-year-old class. In 1989, I completed a certificate program at Penn State Harrisburg. I had my first child in 1990 and continued to work part-time at CEEC. In 1995, I had my second child and was able to continue working at CEEC. In the year 2000, I made the change to work for the Capital Intermediate Unite. I worked for almost 13 years in the autism support class. I learned a lot of valuable information and enjoyed my time there. When I learned that there was a position open at CEEC it just felt right to come back It felt like home and I’m glad that I made that decision. I enjoy working with the baby rooms as their break person. I sometimes get to work in the other classrooms when I’m needed. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and grandkids and my two dogs.
